Who doesn’t love a baby shower? Especially for one of the world’s BIGGEST babies!?! The Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors celebrated the season’s North Atlantic right whale babies at our Right Whale Baby Shower and Celebration on April 10, 2025 at the Florida House Inn.
Each year, North Atlantic right whales migrate south to the warmer waters off the Atlantic coast from the Carolinas to Florida to give birth to and nurture their calves. The North Atlantic right whale is a critically endangered species, so each calf that is born is a reason to celebrate and gives hope that the species may survive.
At the time of our gathering, we celebrated the ten calves that had been born this season! (Special note: It was a delightful surprise to hear that on April 18th, a week after we celebrated, there was another reason to celebrate as an 11th calf was spotted!). You can see the update about each calf spotted this year here: 2024-25 Calving Season.
Savoring the Celebration: A Feast of Joy!

Volunteers provided delicious food for everyone to enjoy as we gathered in the courtyard on a perfect spring day.
